Teaching

Michael is the CEO and a teacher at Music Lessons In Your House. He started playing in 1979 and has been teaching since 1987. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from the Berklee College of Music. He is an active member of the National Piano Guild (American College of Musicians).  Michael requires new students to go through a 30 day probationary period before going on his schedule permanently.

Performance

Michael is the former drummer for Messenger (Christian Hard Rock Band) out of Northern Virginia. His solo acoustic guitar/vocal performances pay tribute to decades of Rock & Roll 60's 70's 80's & 90's and feature his original material. Music Composition is one of Michael's passions. He has produced three CDs of original material: Acoustic Pop, Supernatural and Moth & Rust.

Author

He is the author of Rhythm (available at Sheet Music Plus) and Contemporary Compositions For Piano. Michael received an honorable mention in the Summer 2020 Piano Guild Magazine for the piano composition After The Storm, an honorable mention in the Summer of 2022 Piano Guild Magazine for the piano composition  Faith, and made the Teachers' Piano Guild Honor Roll in 2022.

Philosophy

Over the years Michael has learned that passion for music can't be taught, but appreciation for music can be encouraged. Discovering music that stirs the soul will result in excitement to learn and growth. Michael's philosophy is that he is a guide and the student is the teacher. All students must be self taught.
